The Mulakhi Valley starts just past Mestia, on the road that climbs towards the Ughviri Pass and Mount Tetnuldi. Most travelers drive through it on their way to Ushguli without ever stopping. That's a mistake - this valley holds some of the oldest Svan towers in the region, standing in villages where people still live the way their families have for centuries.
This is a private 4x4 drive through five of those villages: Artskheli, Lakhiri, Murshkeli, Majvdieri and Tsaldashi. Your driver-guide is local - he grew up with these villages and tells you what actually happened here: the families, the feuds, the reason every house needed a tower. This is a storytelling tour, not a taxi ride.
There's no hiking and no schedule pressure. Whenever you want a photo - of a tower, of Tetnuldi above the valley, of anything - just say the word and we stop. Two hours door to door, starting whenever suits you.
We pick you up at the agreed point in Mestia. Morning, midday or afternoon - the start time is flexible and agreed at booking.
A short drive out of Mestia and the first towers appear. Your guide starts filling in the picture: who built them, why, and what life in a tower house actually looked like.
One of the most photogenic villages in Svaneti - a tight cluster of medieval towers on the hillside, still standing the way they were built centuries ago. If you photograph one village in the valley, it's this one.
Deeper into the valley, the villages get quieter and the views bigger. On a clear day Tetnuldi (4858m) stands directly above the rooftops - one of the best photo angles in Svaneti, no trail required.
The last village on the route, in the direction of the Ughviri Pass. Old houses, working farms, and the Caucasus closing the valley behind them.
Total trip: approximately 2 hours from pickup to drop-off. Photo stops along the way whenever you ask - that's what private means.
This tour runs as private only - the car is yours, the timing is yours, the stops are yours. Direct booking, no platform fee.
* The price is per car, not per person. For a couple it's 100 GEL each, for a family of four just 50 GEL each.
Direct booking - better price, no platform fee. We usually reply within the hour.
Both trips take about 2 hours and neither needs a trail - together they make a full, relaxed day of the best views in Svaneti. Mulakhi Valley in the morning for towers and Tetnuldi, lunch in Mestia, then Heshkili in the afternoon for the swing, Ushba views and mountain tea. It also pairs well with a half-day tour like Koruldi Lakes or Chalaadi - do the active part first and finish the day rolling through the valley.
No. The entire route is driven in a 4x4, and every stop is right by the car. This makes the tour a good fit for seniors, families with small children, and anyone who wants to see old Svaneti without walking a trail.
Yes - as often as you like. The tour is private, so there's no group to hold up. See a tower, a viewpoint, or Tetnuldi coming out of the clouds - say the word and we stop.
You'll pass the edge of the valley on the way to Ushguli, but the Ushguli tour doesn't go into these villages - it's a full-day trip with a different goal. This tour takes its time inside the Mulakhi Valley itself, with the stories that make the towers mean something. Honest answer: if you're doing a full-day Ushguli trip and have zero extra time, that tour comes first. If you have a spare morning or afternoon, this is the deeper look.
No. Your driver is a local guide who narrates the valley as you go - the history of the villages, the tower families, life in Svaneti then and now. The driving is the easy part; the stories are the reason the tour exists.
Yes - it takes about 2 hours and starts whenever suits you, so it pairs easily. The most natural combo is Heshkili Swing & Tea for a full no-hiking day, or add it after a morning at Koruldi Lakes or Chalaadi. Write to us and we'll plan the timing together.
This is one of the best rainy-day options in Mestia - you're in the car, not on a trail. The towers and villages look striking in any weather. If visibility is truly bad and you'd rather wait, we'll reschedule at no cost.
Not on this route - the towers are seen from the villages, up close but from outside. If you want to climb one, the Ratiani tower museum in Mestia is easy to visit on your own before or after the tour, and we're happy to point you there.
Via WhatsApp or Instagram - we usually reply within the hour. Tell us how many people, your preferred date and rough start time, and we'll confirm the details. Direct booking, no platform fee.
